SANDY, Utah – Officials with the Canyons School District say rumored threats against Brighton High are “unfounded” and students are safe to come to school.
After two students took their own lives over the last two weeks, texts started circulating among students about a possible threat against Brighton.
Principal Charisse Hilton sent a letter to parents Thursday morning addressing the issue.
Dear Brighton Families,
We are aware of a text message circulating last night suggesting a threat against the school. The text message is inaccurate. We do not have any specific information as to a threat. If your student has information such as names or incidents, they should be reported to an administrator or police officer. Classes will continue as normal. Your student’s safety is our number one priority. Thank you for your continued support as we all work through this difficult time.Thank you,
Charisse Hilton, Principal
School officials have not confirmed the nature of the threat but Fox 13 has spoken to parents who say their students told them of a rumored school shooting.
