SALT LAKE CITY - The Unified Police Department said they are working on five unsolved homicides and they have asked for the public's help in reporting any details they may know about any of the cases.

One of the cases is of 22-year-old Chandler Cooper who was found by hikers in early February.  Police said the young Millcreek man had a criminal history, mainly involving drug use and that he was shot in the leg in May of 2015.  Detectives say someone took him out to Saltair and executed him.

Another case being investigated is of two people killed two days apart in Magna during the summer of 2015.  Steven Chambers and Shelli Brown, both 26 at the time, were found shot to death 48 hours apart.  The same suspect committed both murders, police said.  They also said detectives are optimistic about this case.

Police say the toughest case to crack is the double murder of Ralph Salazar and his girlfriend Alice Griego.  They were shot the morning of December 14, 2012 after someone broke into Salazar's Granite community home.   The suspect killed the victims and then sent the house on fire.

"When you spend time, planning and executing a murder, you leave behind something. It's only a matter of time before those pieces fall in place.  Someone out there's got the missing piece and eventually it will turn up", said Sheriff Jim Winder.

Officials said if anyone has any information, no matter how minor they think it may be, it's never too late to call UPD.  Their number 801-743-7000.
