KANSAS -- A couple in Kansas put out a campaign sign that's attracting national attention due do it's simple, non-partisan proclamation that "Everybody Sucks."

Debbie Butler and her husband posted the sign in their Kansas neighborhood.

"It's just fun," she told KSHB's Tom Dempsey. "We just thought it was funny when we saw it, and we bought it and put it in the front yard."

The sign began as a joke but quickly began to turn heads.

"It gets a lot of car honks," Butler said. "It gets people stopping saying, 'We love your sign'. People slow down and take pictures of our sign."

Butler said the sign has caused some awkward moments, too, specifically when one little boy asked for a definition.

"He saw the sign and said to his dad, 'Dad, what does sucks mean, daddy?" Butler recalls.

Laura Horton, a neighbor, offered an opinion on the sign without really weighing in on its message.

"This is a very straight forward sign," she said. "I'll put it that way."
