Lions, Titans take former SUU Thunderbirds in NFL Draft

CEDAR CITY, Utah — Two former Thunderbirds are NFL bound after the fourth and fifth rounds of the draft, according to Southern Utah University.

The Detroit Lions drafted safety Miles Killebrew in the fourth round and as the 111th overall pick, and the Tennessee Titans drafted cornerback LeShaun Sims in the 5th round as the 157th overall pick.

“I’m beyond excited that Detroit chose me,” Killebrew stated in a press release posted by the Thunderbirds. “I’ve been watching these guys play forever and to finally be a Lion, I just can’t wait to put on that helmet.”

Killebrew amassed more than 100 tackles during his four years at SUU, and he also racked up three interceptions. He earned All-Big Sky Recognition during each of his four years, according to the press release.

Sims snagged eight interceptions during his time at Southern Utah, and during his final year he returned one of his two picks for six. He also earned 10 pass breakups that year.

“I’m so excited that the Titans saw my potential,” Sims stated in a press release.  “Now I’m ready to get on their field and show everyone that I can work.”
