SALT LAKE CITY – Utah fans are feeling a deep loss with the passing of music legend Prince.
Many are finding comfort on social media, while others are re-visiting his classic catalog of hits.
DJ’s from B 98.7 are mourning with the listeners Thursday.
“People are just astounded, aren't believing it,” said Valerie Cameron, a Morning Show Host. “We have people that are posting on our Facebook and Twitter, 'Will you play this song, will you play that song?'"
Cameron hosts Val & Mike in the Morning. She grew up listening to Prince. The singer/songwriter influenced her to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
“I got the privilege to see him one time, and whether he was sitting behind the piano with no one else there and just him playing, or whether he had all the bells and whistles and costumes and lights and huge band, he knew that you were there to see him,” Cameron said.
Val says his ability to master every type of music in his Purple Rain album drew in fans from all walks of life.
“You had diamonds and pearls, you had all of these songs, they weren't pop, they weren't blues, jazz, they weren't jazz, they were all of those things in one and then he throws a guitar in, and you've got rock and roll,” Cameron said.

Fans feel lucky to have seen Prince perform in person. He made three stops in Utah in 1997, 2001, and 2004.
