Temple Square’s spring time gardens are at peak bloom the last few weeks in April. It took two thousand volunteers months to create the 35 acre gardens. Temple Square Grounds Supervisor, Eldon Cannon says that the average peak bloom is mid-April to the first week in may.
Free Garden Tours on Temple Square began April 4 for the 2016 Season.
Regular Tours will run weekdays and Sundays through September. They are open to the public and require no reservations.
However, groups also have the option of calling 801-240-5916 to schedule a private tour for any time that is convenient. They would also appreciate notification of a large group planning to attend one of the regular tours so the guide can prepare accordingly.
The Regular Tour Schedule is as follows:
- Tour of the Church Office Building Plaza, and areas around the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, the Church Administration Building, the Lion House, and the Beehive House.
Monday-Friday 11:00 a.m. Visitors meet the guide inside the Southeast Lobby of the Church Office Building Tower.
Wednesday evening 7:00 p.m. Visitors meet the guide outside the South Doors of the Church Office Building Tower.
Sunday morning 10:30 a.m. following the Tabernacle Choir Broadcast. Visitors meet the guide at the East Gates of Temple Square.
- Tour of Conference Center Roof Gardens.
Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m.
Visitors meet the guide inside Door 15.
Sunday morning 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. following the Tabernacle Choir Broadcast. Visitors meet the guide at Door 15.

Garden “Talks” or classes, led by expert horticulturists are available every Wednesday from June to August at Brigham Young Historic Park across the street from the Church Office Building. These classes are one hour long and are free to the public.
