SANDY, Utah -- Salt Lake Comic Con draws thousands of people to downtown Salt Lake City, but a different kind of convention is filling the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy this weekend.

PrepperCon has everything you need when it comes to emergency preparedness and disaster relief.

Utahns are known for being prepared for whatever comes along, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has long told its followers to have a year’s supply of food and water stored, along with other things needed to survive a disaster such as an earthquake.

Both casual and hard-core survivalists were like kids in a candy store at PrepperCon, where offerings included a variety of tents and things like water filtration systems and food made for long-term storing.

Since power is likely to be out during most kinds of natural disasters, solar power systems were also on display.

FOX 13 News’ Max Roth has more on PrepperCon, see the video above for his report, and click here to visit the convention's website.
