PROVO, Utah - Police have identified the man accused of raping a 19-year-old Brigham Young University student as 39-year-old Nasiru Seidu.

The victim says the school is now investigating her for honor code violations.

According to Utah County authorities, Seidu was at the Belmont Apartments with the victim back on Sept. 25, 2015.

Documents state he and the victim started to "engage in consensual sexual relations" when the victim became uncomfortable and said she wanted to stop.

Official documents state that's when Seidu allegedly undressed and raped her.

Police said Seidu told them he had consensual sexual relations with the victim but she says it was against her will.

Seidu was arrested for rape and he is also facing charges for retaliation against the victim.

Utah County officers said the BYU honor code and Title IX offices later contacted the rape victim in November after getting a copy of the police report.

Officers said Seidu's friends were the ones who had given BYU the report.

They said Seidu had given a friend the report who then alerted BYU.

Authorities said because Seidu knew the victim could face disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion, and still had a friend take the report to BYU, he was charged with retaliation.

The alleged victim told FOX 13 she decided to report she was raped after learning Seidu had lied to her about his age.
