SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah man who was injured last week in a bombing at Brussels Airport has arrived in Utah and is now receiving medical attention at a local hospital, a spokesman for the Wells family said.

Mason Wells, 19, was serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the time of the March 22 terrorist attacks.

According to a Facebook posting by Utah Valley Magazine editor Jeanette Bennett, Wells has a broken heel and ruptured Achilles tendon on his left foot, and he is undergoing skin grafts and other procedures on his foot and hand.

Wells is also waiting to hear about future surgeries, the Facebook posting said.

Bennett’s posting said Wells has been released from his calling as a missionary and he has been reunited with his 17-year-old brother Colby.

Wells was at the airport with three other LDS Church missionaries, all of whom were injured, at the time of the attack. Wells, 66-year-old Richard Norby and 20-year-old Joseph Empey were taking 20-year-old Fanny Clain to the airport when they were injured in the bombing.

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks, which Belgian officials say have claimed 32 lives.
