MURRAY, Utah -- Police responded to a motel in Murray Wednesday afternoon on reports of shots fired, and a man has been taken into custody.

FOX 13 News first heard reports of shots fired just after 2 p.m. in the area of 975 East and 6600 South at an extended-stay Motel 6.

Police responded and took the man who fired the shots into custody. There were no injuries reported.

Officers on scene said they believe the man fired a gun while on a balcony or perhaps from inside a room at the motel. The suspect was located inside a room and was apparently staying at the motel.

Photos from the scene appear to show police examining a Jeep that was apparently struck by gunfire.

The man who was taken into custody has not yet been identified, and there were no specific details about the sequence of events leading up to shots being fired. FOX 13 News will have more information as it becomes available.
