AUSTIN — President Obama is scheduled to be in Austin, Texas Friday – the same day as former First Lady Nancy Reagan’s funeral.
Obama is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the annual South by Southwest (commonly known as SxSW) event.
The president’s expected absence at the funeral became a trending topic on Facebook Tuesday and prompted online criticism from comedian Dennis Miller, political commentator Ann Coulter and countless others.
First Lady Michelle Obama will attend Reagan’s funeral, as will former First Lady Hillary Clinton.
South by Southwest is an annual set of film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences.
