homicide of Hope Gabaldon.

On Sunday, Denver authorities detained Sergio Briseno Medina, 26, and West Valley City police investigators are currently in Colorado conducting follow up work on the case, according to a press release from West Valley City Police Department.

“Investigators have established that Medina Gabaldon were acquaintances,” the release states. “At this time, Medina has not been officially charged in connection with the homicide of Gabaldon.”

On Feb. 25, Gabaldon was discovered just before 10:30 p.m. badly injured on the side of road in the area of 3100 South and 4000 West.

She was treated at the scene but later died at a nearby hospital.

Police say Gabaldon’s 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee is missing. Authorities believe the vehicle is a critical component in the investigation and is asking for the public’s help in locating it.

The jeep has a Utah license plate number of: W663BR. It is silver, but in some lighting may appear to have a golden hue.

If the vehicle is found, police ask the public not to touch it, but to call police at 801-840-4000.
