Fire crews have trouble reaching blaze at Big Cottonwood Canyon cabin

BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah - A large cabin is on fire in Big Cottonwood Canyon. BCC cabin fire 3

Authorities were called to the fire at 6688 Hulse Ave. about a mile west of Solitude Mountain Resort.

Unified Fire crews are battling the flames however, firefighters are having a hard time getting to the location.

The fire department said the road is steep, snow-packed and only one four-wheel truck has been able to reach the cabin. FullSizeRender (2)

Crews said they are concerned about a limited water supply in the area as well.

The fire is not threatening any other structures.

Firefighters expect to be on the scene for a few more hours.

No one was home when the fire started; authorities said the owner may live out of state.

    Who needs a $3 mil cabin they only visit here and there? Seems like a waste of construction and raw materials to just sit there unused, and now all of those materials and toxic fumes just went up in smoke. I would laugh if it wasn’t fully insured.

    It’s NOT a cabin! It’s a 3 million dollar mansion. My whole house could have fit in the living room. To my way of thinking a “cabin” is a one-room structure that is similar to a studio apartment inside, but maybe with a loft for sleeping. Come on, let’s have accurate reporting, please.
