SALT LAKE CITY — A resolution in the Utah State Legislature declares that the state is “ready, willing and able” to host another Olympics.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 12, sponsored by Senate Majority Whip Stuart Adams, R-Layton, declares that the 2002 Winter Olympics were so successful that Utah could host another one.

“BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, should our great state have the opportunity to be
selected to represent the United States of America to bid on a future Olympic Winter Games,
the Utah Sports Commission shall coordinate and work with the Governor, Legislature, and
other public and private sector officials to help organize and oversee the bid,” the resolution states in part.

Salt Lake City and state politicians have dabbled in the idea of bidding for another Olympics, but so far the idea has not been pursued in earnest.
