Registered nurse Alfred Romeo with MothertoBaby.org answers the most common pregnancy questions.

1. Women and providers can call, email, or text us with questions about exposures in pregnancy and breastfeeding and how the exposures might affect the baby. Find them at http://www.MotherToBaby.org.
2. They get about 7,000 calls/texts/emails a year and our most common questions are about:
a. Cold medications (cough suppressants, nasal decongestants)
b. Pain medications (over-the-counter and prescription)
c. Psychiatric medications (antidepressants, antianxiety medications)
3. Ask us about your prescription medications before you stop taking them since sometimes the condition is more harmful for the pregnancy than the medication such as epilepsy and depression.
4. Remember to start taking your prenatal vitamin before you get pregnant to help prevent spina bifida. Eat healthy, get plenty of rest, and keep active for a healthier pregnancy.
