VERNAL, Utah — A Blanding woman was taken into custody over the weekend after she went through a Vernal subdivision wielding an ax and destroying property, authorities confirmed Tuesday night.

On Jan. 30, Uintah County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of 1220 South and 500 East on a report of a woman waving an ax in the air and

damaging property, according to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office.

When officers encountered 32-year-old Natasha Billsie she was walking down the road dragging an ax. A Naples police officer and a Uintah County Sheriff’s deputy were able to convince Billsie to drop the ax.

“Billsie appeared to be under the influence of an unknown intoxicant and resisted officers when they attempted to take her into custody,” the sheriff’s office states.

Witnesses told authorities they saw Billsie smash the back window out of a car. Another witness reported the interior and exterior of his shed was damaged and his ax was missing.

Many of Billsie’s personal items were found near the damaged shed, according to the sheriff’s office.

Billsie was taken to Uintah County Jail and booked on charges of disorderly conduct, public intoxication, false personal information, resisting arrest, burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
