PARK CITY, Utah — Park City government officials said a water line break at Heber Avenue and Main Street shut down water service on the west side of Woodside Avenue between 6th and 15th street for about an hour.

The investigation and repairs will shut down Park Avenue (the street in between Woodside Avenue and Main Street) from 7th St. to Heber Avenue.

The city said it could be taken care of in four to six hours, but they are still digging and it could take up to 24 hours depending on the amount of damage.

Park City’s water department rerouted service to all buildings except one triplex affected by the break, officials said.

According to Park City  water began bubbling up from the ground and nearby sidewalk around 3 p.m. at 10 to 12 gallons per second.

Only one building, the triplex residence, received water damage in the basement.

One restaurant, High West Distillery, had to temporarily close as crews worked to repair the broken line. The restaurant has since reopened.

The main break did not have any affect on Main Street businesses.

Municipal Emergency services said Park City’s age and elevation make the water system one of the most complex in the western United States and that is why various streets are involved in shutdowns and repairs.

The emergency hotline for water updates is 435-615-5999.
