SALT LAKE CITY — A federal judge will allow a group of women to testify at trial against a Utah man nicknamed the “Vampire Trucker.”

In a ruling issued last week, U.S. District Court Judge David Nuffer allowed the testimony of four women who have claimed Timothy Vafeades beat and sexually assaulted them. In some cases, court papers said, the women claimed Vafeades used a dremel to file down their teeth to give them fangs similar to his.

Vafeades is accused of kidnapping and transportation for illegal sexual activity involving two women. He is also facing child pornography charges. Defense attorneys had sought to limit the testimony of the other alleged victims.

Vafeades was arrested in 2014 in Minnesota. He is accused of holding women captive for extended periods of time as he drove cross-country.

Vafeades is scheduled to go on trial for three weeks beginning in April.
