HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – The United States Air Force will track Santa Claus' journey from the North Pole in just a few days, but servicemen and women at Hill Air Force Base are already making the holidays bright.
Santa Claus recently visited the students at Ogden’s Mound Fort Junior High School, and he brought along some of his Elven helpers. The crew had gifts for the students, and they put a lot of smiles on children’s faces.
And the teachers were having just as much fun.
"It is the best ever, it is so much fun,” said special education teacher Tami Youngman. “We get excited for it every year, and I’m just giddy!"
This is the 25th year the 419th Fighter Wing has delivered gifts and school supplies to Mound Fort. Chief Master Sgt. Matthew Mcelreath of the 67th Aerial Port Squadron said they are glad to help the students.
“They're special needs, they're underprivileged a little bit, and it just brings a light to their lives,” he said. “It's just a good time of year for them, they're also getting some needs, like maybe a coat or some shoes that they can use throughout the year, and it just brightens up their day. Brightens up our day as well."
The kids get one big wrapped box filled with smaller, individually wrapped boxes. See the video above for footage of the children receiving their gifts.
