SALT LAKE CITY — Many Utahns will hit the road this weekend for the rivalry bowl game between BYU and Utah in Las Vegas, and the Utah Department of Transportation is urging drivers to plan ahead for travel delays.

Drivers should expect delays of 30 minutes to an hour Friday night and Saturday morning in the Virgin River Gorge between St. George and Mesquite, Nevada.

Those returning Saturday night should expect similar delays, but those traveling back on Sunday may face delays of up to two hours due to construction. I-15 will be reduced to one lane in each direction in the Virgin River Gorge.

Those heading north for the Idaho Potato Bowl Tuesday could also see delays because of construction. UDOT says I-84 will be reduced to one lane in each direction for 11 miles between the I-86 junction and Burley, Idaho.
