SALT LAKE CITY – You are not forgotten: That was the message to fallen Utah veterans at the cemetery at Fort Douglas Saturday.

The U.S Naval Sea Cadet Corps joined the nonprofit group “Wreaths Across America" to hold a remembrance ceremony Saturday morning.

Men and women in uniform placed wreaths on each headstone to honor those who served and to remind everyone of the sacrifices made.

“This is an amazing opportunity that we give our cadets to learn about the history, and to learn that freedom isn't free, and they can actually see firsthand the price it is for us to have our freedoms,” said Devaughn Simper, a Jr. Grade Lieutenant with the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps.

Fort Douglas was one of more than 1,000 locations across the country to host a wreath ceremony for fallen veterans Saturday.
