WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Police in West Valley City responded to a shooting Saturday night, and the victim was transported to a hospital.

The shooting occurred in the vicinity of 5330 Peggy Court in West Valley City, and while police at the scene did not specify the man’s exact condition, they said he was walking around and talking when medical personnel arrived to treat him.

FOX 13 News first heard reports of the incident around 8:20 p.m.

Lt. Blair Barfuss, West Valley City Police Department, said they received multiple calls about shots being fired.

“Upon arrival, our officers found one male, mid-20s, with a gunshot wound,” he said. “He was transported for medical care… Further evaluation of the area, we found a vehicle that had gunshots to it, with damage, and investigators are on scene looking for further information.”

The man who was shot was transported to a hospital for treatment, and Barfuss said when officers arrived the man had walked to a home near where the shooting occurred, possibly a relative’s residence. Barfuss said the man was reportedly shot in the arm.

The suspect fled the scene, and so far there are no details regarding a suspect description other than reports of a white passenger car leaving the scene.

“Witnesses observed a [white passenger car] leave the area at a high rate of speed, there were multiple shots that were fired,” Barfuss said. “And information is slowly coming in, but we have our investigators here following up on leads at this time.”
