SALT LAKE CITY — Two people were hospitalized Friday morning after crashing into a freeway overpass following a traffic stop attempt in Salt Lake City.
Police said the driver had felony warrants and they attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not comply. Police didn’t pursue the vehicle due to safety concerns, but they discovered the vehicle had crashed into an I-15 overpass near 650 W 800 S.
The crash caused damage to several concrete panels, which need to be inspected by the Utah Department of Transportation.
The driver and a passenger were both transported to a hospital, and police said the driver is in critical condition.
