WICKLIFFE, Ohio – Video released by the Wickliffe Police Department showed officers pull two deer from freezing-cold water earlier this month.

The deer were trapped in a cistern in a wooded area near Interstate 90 on Nov. 10, FOX 8 in Cleveland reports. The video shows the officers use rope to pull the animals to safety.

FOX 8 reports the rescue was filmed by a resident who gave the recording to the police department.

The cistern has been covered and is no longer a hazard, FOX 8 reports.
