Police investigate homicide after man found dead in Sandy home

SANDY, Utah -- Police are investigating a suspicious death as a homicide after finding a man dead in Sandy home Monday afternoon.

At about 3:15 p.m., Sandy police officers were dispatched on a full arrest medical call at 1365 E. 8085 South.

When they arrived at the home, they discovered a man in his 20s, Marcos A. Ibanez, dead in the basement with a possible gunshot wound.

Detectives processed the scene Monday evening after obtaining a search warrant for the home.

Based on information at the scene, the death will be investigated as a homicide, according to a press release from Sandy police.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the exact cause of death.

    Police discovered a man in his 20s dead in the basement – with “a possible gunshot wound”. If the entry wound was cylindrical in shape then they can rule out a stabbing.
