MURRAY, Utah -- A small memorial to Fred Mustain sits in Tina Maestas' living room. Photos and candles serve as a shrine to the love of her life.

These photos and memories are all Maestas and her son, Anthony Mustain, have left, as they grieve for Fred Mustain's death.

"It's like a bad dream that I can't wake up from," Maestas said, crying.

They've both lost sleep and been tormented by how 38-year old Mustain spent his last breaths of life.

"It's horrible," Anthony said. "I want to know what happened,"

Mustain was shot several times on the evening of September 5th in front of a Murray home under construction on East Vine Street.

Maestas said he'd been riding his bike home. He later died at the hospital.

In the two months since, police haven't figured out who's responsible.

"I don't want them to let this go cold," Maestas said. "I don't want this person or persons who did this to him to be out there on the streets."

Though they still have no suspect, Murray Police Officer Kenny Bass said detectives are doing what they can to keep the case alive and make sure this homicide doesn't go unsolved.

"Even if you don't have anything that's directly moving it forward, you still have stuff that you can look into- whether it's re-interviewing or looking at the scene again," Ofc. Bass said.

But with little clues, it's an uphill battle.

"Yeah it's tough," he said. "It's been a difficult investigation."

While investigators chase any and all leads, the family waits in agony.

"It's just left lingering for us to think about every single day and every single night," Maestas said.

She and Anthony hope police will catch a break, and find who killed Fred Mustain.

"I just want this person to be taken off the streets." Anthony said. "My dad was a good man, [and] didn't deserve to die the way he did."

"I want them to pay for what they've done," Maestas said, tears streaming down her face. "I want my family to have some sort of closure with all of this."

Both Mustain's family and Murray Police gave a renewed call to the public for information on the case.

Anyone who may know what happened to Mustain- or know who's responsible- can call Murray Police at 801-264-2673.
