Car reviews: Considering hybrids

In this week's review, FOX 13 car-guy Brian Champagne takes a look at the advances hybrids have made since first entering the automotive scene and considers whether or not its worth making the switch.

    Hybrids have a far lower rate of return customers than other vehicles. That tells me all I need to know.

    They cannot save you enough money in fuel to pay for the extra cost.

    Now….if I were in the market for a purely city and suburban car then a DIESEL hybrid might make sense. 100 mpg would be easily attainable. But a gasoline powered hybrid can’t operate cheaply enough to pay for the extra tech. And no hybrid makes sense on the freeway, where the batteries and motors are merely ballast.

    No sale. Sorry. And a coal-powered “electric” car? Are you kidding me? What’s the point? Where do you think electricity comes from? Rainbows and unicorn juice?
