Found: Missing BYU student with mental health issues found

PROVO, Utah – A missing BYU student who authorities said has mental difficulties has been found.

Officials said he is physically unharmed however he is getting treatment for mental health issues.


Officers said 22-year-old Yifeng Xu, who also goes by Ephraim, was last seen Sunday and since then, has not returned to class or his home.

According to Provo Police, Xu “was in crisis” when he was last seen and suffers from undiagnosed mental issues.

Provo Police spokeswoman Kortney Hughes said Xu’s father reported him missing, saying his son was upset after they had an argument and left their Provo home.

Authorities said Xu is described as a Chinese man who is about 5’11” and weights about 145 pounds.

Xu has black hair and dark eyes.
