SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah football team moved up two spots to number 10 in this week’s College Football Playoff Rankings.  The top four teams this week are Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State and Notre Dame.  Stanford is the top Pac-12 team at seven and UCLA is 19th.

The Utes are in a great spot with three games to play in the regular season.  The Utes are 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the Pac-12, with a one game lead over USC and UCLA in the Pac-12 south standings.  Three more wins will put them in the Pac-12 Championship game.

“The Stakes get higher every week, I tell our team that all the time,” said Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham. “The deeper we get into this the bigger the situation, and that’s why you play the game, to be in situations like this. We see the big picture. We understand what we want to accomplish, and that’s to try to get to the Pac-12 championship game. That’s not’s something we ignore, but our focus is on a week-to-week basis, it’s completely on the next opponent. But we certainly are aware of where we are in the standings and what needs to happen.”

After playing at Arizona this Saturday, the Utes end the regular season with two home games against UCLA and Colorado.
