Hurricane man faces 12 counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child

HURRICANE, Utah — Police in Hurricane have been investigating reports regarding a man who was allegedly touching children inappropriately, and now the man is in jail and facing numerous charges that include aggravated sexual abuse of a child, aggravated assault and witness tampering.

According to information from the Hurricane City Police Department, 54-year-old Paul B. Whitlatch of Hurricane was arrested Thursday morning and has been booked into the Washington County Jail.

Whitlatch faces the following charges: 12 counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, aggravated assault, witness tampering and disorderly conduct.

Detectives have been investigating allegations regarding the abuse for a few weeks, and it was reported the man touched children inappropriately multiple times. The incidents occurred in Hurricane.

Police state that the man made threats of violence against someone who confronted him about the alleged abuse.
