WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – A pregnant woman and three others were injured in a stolen car crash in West Valley City overnight.

Police said the incident started when officers tried to pull over a speeding car at about 1 a.m. near 3500 S. and 2700 W.

The car didn’t stop and instead sped off; police didn’t chase it.

Officers were called to a crash about 10 minutes later near 2100 S. and 2700 W.

Investigators said it appears the car hit a curve in the road.

“It looks like he didn’t negotiate that turn, hit the curb, and it looks like he was going at a pretty good clip because he went probably 100+ yards before he hit the cement barriers that prevented him from going out onto the freeway itself,” West Valley City Lt. Mike Christenson said.

Officers found two men in the front of the car in critical condition and two women, including one who is pregnant, in the back.

The women are in serious condition.

The Jaws of Life were needed to get all four of them out of the car.

Police later determined the car was stolen.

The driver could be facing multiple charges including running from police.

The names of those involved have not been confirmed.
