MIDVALE, Utah - Two suspects are in custody and a third is on the run after an undercover narcotics investigation led to a police chase overnight.

The Unified Police Department has been investigating a few men suspected of drug activity for several months.

Authorities said the men have been able to get away from law enforcement multiple times in the past.

However, Thursday night, police found the men and tried to pull over their vehicle near 420 E. and Ft. Union Blvd. but the car sped off.

"When they tried the traffic stop, the vehicle initially slowed to the side of the road but then fled," Unified Police Lt. Lex Bell said. "One of our detectives was able to perform a PIT maneuver quickly and disable that vehicle."

But the suspects didn't easily give up.

Officers said one of the men, Lane Porter, was armed with a gun and ran off.

Authorities said he jumped out, was hit by a patrol car, was taken into custody and is in fair condition.

The driver, Shane Michael Tisdale, was also arrested; officers found an ounce of heroin and an ounce of meth in the car.

The other passenger escaped and is on the run.

Officers described him as a Polynesian man with a shaved head who was last seen wearing a red t-shirt and tan long, baggy shorts.
