MAGNA, Utah -- Once upon a time it was an empty garage, until the mother of this Magna home, Marianna Gamboa, came up with the ultimate idea.

“My husband is like, 'What are we going to do with it?' and I said, 'let's go build a man cave,'” Gamboa said.

And the man cave was born.

“We went to the store, we bought the turf, and here we are: me and him trying to unroll it, and stretch it, and make sure we glue it on properly. It took us weekends and weekends to get this done,” Gamboa said.

The labor of love is all part of this couple’s love story.

For their first date, Albert Gamboa took Marianna to a Utah tailgate party.

“She was completely freezing, but she enjoyed it,” Albert Gamboa said.

“I didn’t understand what it was about, and I thought he was crazy,” Marianna Gamboa recalls.

But then she fell in love, and, ever since, the two have been teaming up to support their favorite team.

Decked out with signed jerseys and football helmets, even the snacks in the man cave are red and white, which are Utah’s colors.

When the team plays at home, the Gamboas are tailgating on Guardsmen Way with their friends. But, when the Utes are away, everyone is invited to the man cave. Michael Henrie has been tailgating with the Gamboas since the beginning.

“Their place is your place," he said. "'Welcome to your home, what can I get for you?' That's the phrase you hear most often."

For Saturday’s game against USC, the event includes a roasted pig.

There are only three rules in the man cave.

1. You must eat.
2. You can’t drive drunk.
3. You must text the hosts to tell them you made it home safe.
