Poachers accused of killing, stealing 3 elk in Utah County

SPANISH FORK CANYON, Utah – Investigators are searching for elk poachers accused of killing and stealing three elk from a private ranch in Spanish Fork Canyon.

The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said the elk, worth about $5,000 each, were poached on Aug. 15, the opening day of the elk hunt this year.

Authorities said the ranch is west of Soldier Summit ¬†near mile marker 27 on Highway 6 and has clearly posted “no hunting” and “no trespassing” signs.
