LEHI, Utah -- It was the 12th annual Mascot Bowl at Lehi High School Monday.

The charity football game benefits Bear Hugs for Kids and Firemen and Friends for Kids. The charities raise money to buy Christmas gifts for underprivileged children.

The eighth graders and mascots were out in full force for the annual tradition. In the past 12 years, the little league team beat the mascots six times.

Organizers say there's a lot on their plate every year but it's always easier when you have teammates.

“When you have the Jazz Bear on your side, people do a lot for him,” said Becky White, sports marketing teacher at Lehi High.

The Jazz Bear wasn't the only mascot to take on the challenge.

This year's roster also included Burnie from the Miami Heat, Rocky from the Denver Nuggets and Rowdy from the Dallas Cowboys.

A full squad of college mascots were also on the field.

Both teams brought everything they had to the field and it was all for a good cause. The goal was to raise about $15,000.

Cheerleaders and dancers from Lehi High and the Utah Jazz were also on the field for entertainment.

“I just love to see all the community support and everybody around,” said Angela Roberts, Lehi High teacher. “The kids are having a blast. That’s what it’s all about.”
