HURRICANE, Utah — SWAT personnel were dispatched to a residence in Hurricane early Sunday morning after reports a man with a firearm had threatened family members, and after about 3 hours the suspect came outside and surrendered to officers.

According to a press release from Hurricane City Police Department, officers responded around 2:54 a.m. to a home in the area of 1480 South 160 West on reports a male suspect had threatened his family with a firearm.

Police stated there were reports the man had physically assaulted his wife and another family member and that he was possibly intoxicated. Family members made it out of the home and called authorities.

Responding officers established a perimeter and attempted to contact the man, but they were unsuccessful. Due to the nature of the call and reports the man was armed with a firearm, Washington County Metro SWAT was dispatched.

Around 6 a.m., authorities made contact with the man and he ultimately came out of the home willingly and cooperated with officers. The man was booked into jail, and booking records indicate the man is Kendall Sivils.

There were no reports of injuries associated with the SWAT response.
