SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Gov. Gary Herbert stated Thursday he was ordering flags across Utah to be flown at half-staff Friday, September 11 in honor of those who died on 9/11 and as a tribute to those who serve.

The statement from Herbert said the flags of the United States America and Utah will be flown at half-staff at all state facilities to mark Patriot’s Day.

“Tomorrow we will pause to remember the lives lost, the families who survived and the thousands of police, fire and military, emergency and construction workers who courageously responded 14 years ago,” Gov. Herbert stated. “As we observe the anniversary of 9/11, let us rededicate ourselves to the principles of freedom and recommit ourselves to uplift, help and strengthen others.”

The press release notes flags will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Friday.
