RIVERTON, Utah -A landslide in a Riverton neighborhood Thursday afternoon left a 30-foot wide, and 40-foot tall hole on a hillside between two homes.

Unified Fire Authority says the slide was a result of excess moisture in the soil. However, they continue to look for the source of water. In the meantime, the water has been shut off.

“I don’t think we’ll have any more problems,” said Val Greenwood, President of the Homeowners Association. “With the water turned off, we should be OK.”

Meanwhile, concerned neighbors who lived above and below the landslide remained on edge.

“Yeah, it’s very nervous because it’s so close and you think gosh,” said Leica Haertel, whose home sits just above the slide.

Officials say no one was hurt in the slide and one home was evacuated as a result.
