WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Fire officials said crews arrived early Sunday morning to find three cars in flames under a duplex carport in West Valley City.

The people inside the nearest unit of the duplex woke up to the smell of smoke and alerted the neighbors in the other unit.

Flames reached the attic of the home, but firefighters put out the blaze before it spread any further.

Officials said all three cars are a total loss, and they estimate nearly $100,000 total in damages.

Nobody was hurt by the fire, and a home suffered some smoke-related damage.

The fire started just after 1 a.m. near 5400 W and 4000 S.

The cause is still under investigation.

Yes that was our cars plus the neighbors car. And the damage on the inside of the house is just heart wrenching.
