OREM, Utah – The Orem Police Department reports since August 23, someone has been going around an Orem neighborhood and shooting car windows, house windows and business windows with a BB gun. Now they’re asking the public for help finding the suspect.

“All three of them are shot out, and it just blew glass everywhere,” Orem resident Bruce Lowry said.

Lowry had three windows shot out in his Ford Excursion last week. He says it’s making his family fear for their safety.

“You know, thank goodness it wasn’t kids playing around outside,” he said. “It was just a car, but it’s still frustrating.”

He says the damages are costing him more than a thousand dollars to fix.

“We were quoted about $1,200 to fix it, and, it’s just sad,” Lowry said. “Insurance won’t cover ours.”

Another resident, Vincent Massa, had the back window of his van shot out.

“I could see what looked like cinders on the front driveway,” Massa said. “And I didn’t know what it was at first…and then slowly it dawned on me when I came out that the rear window had shattered.”

Police say more than 100 car windows have been shot out and about a dozen homes have been damaged.

“The suspects are using what we believe is a CO2 cartridge-operated BB guns, as well as sling shots,” said Lt. Craig Martinez with the Orem Police Department. “So we’ve found BBs in some of the vehicles, and we’ve actually found marbles.”

The Orem Police Department says they hope the public will keep their eyes open and help them locate the suspects. They’re offering a reward for anyone who can offer information leading to an arrest.

“It’s become quite an ordeal,” Martinez said. “We have a lot of victims, and that’s why we’re pulling up $500 for information leading to the arrest and subsequent charging of any suspects.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Orem Police Department at 801-229-7070. Their Facebook page also has a map showing all the locations where cars or homes have been hit, see below for that post.
