BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah -- A man died Friday morning in a rollover crash in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

According to the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred around 6:50 on Guardsman Pass. The victim, later identified as Lewis R. Davis of Taylorsville, was on his way to Park City, the sheriff's office said.

Witnesses said Davis failed to make a turn, possibly because the sun was shining in his eyes, and he drove off a cliff.

The sheriff's office representative said the victim's truck rolled down about 500 feet and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

Emergency responders from Unified Fire Authority, Unified Police Department and Wasatch County Search and Rescue assisted the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office in their investigation and recovery efforts.
