SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Transit Authority announced Wednesday that president and CEO Michael Allegra is retiring.

Allegra will step down August 28 but will remain available as a senior adviser to the chair of the Board of Trustees through March of next year.

He will continue receiving his salary. Allegra qualifies for UTA’s retirement plan, based on his years of service.

But UTA officials stated Allegra won’t receive bonuses or special end of service payments.

Jerry Benson, Vice President of Operations, will serve as Interim General Manager until a replacement is named.
