HEBER, Utah – Authorities said a suspect accused of impersonating a restaurant waiter and allegedly stealing a customer’s credit card is in custody.

Heber officers said they have reason to believe 54-year-old David James Skiby stole the customer’s card at the Side Track Cafe on 98 S. Main St. and then used it at two other locations.

Officers said anonymous complaints all pointed to the same suspect and that they couldn’t have made the arrest without the public’s help.

Skiby is facing two felony counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.

Heber Police said in a statement:

“To safe guard yourself against future crimes similar to this, please only give your financial cards to a person wearing a uniform or name tag.  You can always take your card to the cash register or ask that the transaction be made in your presence.”
