SALT LAKE CITY — A former Davis High teacher convicted of having sex with three students will have her first chance to seek parole in 2017.

The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole said Brianne Altice had her first hearing tentatively scheduled for January 2017. In response to a request from FOX 13, the Utah Department of Corrections on Friday released Altice’s prison mug shot.

Altice pleaded guilty to charges of forcible sex abuse for having sexual relationships with three teenage boys who attended Davis High in Kaysville, where she was employed as an English teacher. At sentencing, Altice’s lawyer suggested she was pursued by the teens. The judge said she should have said no to any sexual contact with the boys.

Altice was originally charged with rape, first-degree felony charges. Her attorney argued that the teens were not students in her class at the time, but a judge ruled she was in a position of trust over them. Altice struck the plea bargain after the judge ruled Davis County prosecutors could not try her on all of the cases together.

Two of the teenage boys sued the Davis School District for negligence over the sex abuse. The family of one dropped their case. The Utah Attorney General’s Office has asked the remaining lawsuit be dismissed.
