SALT LAKE CITY – Officers said a group is lucky to have walked away from a rollover accident in Salt Lake City overnight.

Police said the driver tried to beat a red light going northbound on Foothill Blvd. at Sunnyside Ave. at about 9 p.m.

Authorities said the car drove through the intersection and hit another car going westbound on Sunnyside Ave., causing it to roll several times.

“I think they`re very lucky,” Lt. Martin Caufmann said.  “It could`ve been a lot worse considering the potential speeds involved and that it was a collision that resulted in one vehicle rolling over, this could have been a lot worse. It`s very fortunate that the injuries were not serious.”

Investigators said one juvenile went to the hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities have not confirmed the names of those involved at this time.

Young driver racing around in a WRX who doesn’t know how to stop for a stop light? Please take away their licence and ability to drive, it’s obvious they are too dumb to drive safely around others. If their light changed red and the other car was ALREADY going through the intersection, then there is no “trying to beat the light” going on here, the WRX driver blatently ran a red light that had been red for a full second or two. Glad everyone made it it out, seatbelts…
