Ferret fugitive evades Weber County deputies

OGDEN, Utah – Deputies said a fugitive ferret is back behind bars after leading Weber County deputies on quite a chase.

Officials said the elusive escapee wasn’t a typical chase suspect Sunday.

Authorities said it even chased them around their lobby and they had to call in Ogden City Animal Control for backup.

Crews established a perimeter around the soda machine and officers moved in.

The escapee was cornered and ended up running right into the kennel placed at its only exit.

The creature is now in protective custody until its owner can be found or it can be adopted out to a loving home.

Officials said no one was injured during the chase.
