MIDVALE, Utah -- Back to school shopping can be expensive, but on Saturday a local church helped kids score clothes, supplies and more for free.

The event is called “The Big Give” and is hosted in Midvale by City Church, which has been collecting donations for months ahead of the giveaway event held Saturday.

The donated items range from baby clothes, to binders for school, to shoes—and it’s all free. This is the fifth year City Church has hosted The Big Give.

"Really it started about five years ago, and we had a really generous donation, and we decided, you know what, why don't we just give this stuff away and it's kind of snowballed from there,” said City Church Lead Pastor Chad Jacobson. “Every year people bring in donations."

In the past five years, City Church leaders said it has given away more than $100,000 worth of new and lightly used gear and helped out more than 4,500 people.

This year's event ended Saturday, but they are planning another Big Give for next year. For more information about City Church and the Big Give, visit their website.
