SALT LAKE CITY - President Boyd K. Packer served his faith and family wholeheartedly, that’s the message his son, Elder Allan Packer, shared with Fox 13 as he reflected on his father’s life.

It’s been a difficult time for the Packer family losing their patriarch but they've found comfort in the thousands of people who have written letters, shared condolences and told stories of their father’s influence.
Packer served as the President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
During his service as a U.S. bomber pilot in World War II, he developed a love for the scriptures, his son said.
The leader valued education; he was a seminary teacher before being called as an assistant to the Twelve Apostles.
His son, Allan, said his greatest teachings centered on the family and how parents should provide a loving, stable home for their children to escape the temptations of the world.
Elder Allan Packer/First Quorum of the Seventy told Fox 13:
“As a teacher, he always wanted to make sure what he taught was truthful and done in a way that was respectful but also not just could be understood, but not misunderstood. There's probably a price that has been paid for that but by far those that have been blessed and benefited by the message that he shared and gave his testimony was important.”
Elder Packer said his father’s legacy is his family.
He served in the church for more than 50 years and traveled all across the world.
When he was home, he devoted his time and energy to his wife and 10 children.
President Packer leaves behind 60 grandchildren and Monday, his 111th great grandchild was born.
Funeral services will be Friday starting at 11 a.m. at the Tabernacle.
Everyone 8 and older is invited to attend.
