HERRIMAN, Utah – The city of Herriman is apologizing after receiving complaints about a group that displayed a Confederate Flag along the parade route over the weekend.

The city apologized on its Facebook page stating:

“We would like to express our sincere apologies for any offense this may have caused. The City was not aware that the flag was part of their display. While we understand it may have been meant as a representation of the groups heritage, we also understand the negative message that was felt by spectators and parade participants.”

City officials said they don’t condone intolerance or aversion others may feel the flag expresses.

The city said the views and opinions of those who participate in the Ft. Herriman Days Parade do not reflect those of Herriman City.
