TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — A volunteer high school track coach in Tooele County is facing felony charges for alleged sexual activity with a 15-year-old student.

Terrence Boone Johnson, 21, a volunteer track coach at Tooele High School, sexually abused a member of the track team, according to court documents.

The alleged incident occurred in May.

On June 17 the teen told police she had a sexual relationship with Johnson. According to the probable cause statement, the alleged victim was in the basement of Johnson’s Tooele home when they started to kiss.

The probable cause statement indicates Johnson touched the alleged victim inappropriately and made sexual advances on the girl during that time.

Tooele police interviewed Johnson after they spoke with the teen.

Johnson told police he spent nearly every day of track season helping with the coaching duties. According to the probable cause statement, Johnson told police he started “making out” with the alleged victim after she asked him to pick her up from school one day.

Johnson admitted to inappropriately touching the teen, according to the probable cause statement. He also allegedly admitted to being sexually attracted to the girl.

Johnson was booked into Tooele County Jail on sex abuse of a minor and forcible sex abuse. He was placed on administrative leave by the Tooele County School District.

Johnson is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
